Very little is known from the reign of Amenemnisu, he reigned for 4 short years - and so is thought possibly to have been an old or sickly man when he came to the throne. His predessor was most probably his father - Smendes I.
Civil war was raging in the Theban area, dissidents opposed to the king were exiled to the western oasis. (These dissidents were allowed back at a later date following the marriage of the daughter of Psusennes I to the High Priest Menkheperre).
