The Mummy and coffin of Ramesses V

20th Dynasty

Length of Coffin : 1.77 metres

Height of coffin : 0.46 metres

Ramesses V was found inside an 18th Dynasty plain white - rectangular coffin

Height of the body : 1.726 metres

Although attacked by tomb robbers, the mummy of Ramesses V remained in good condition, the few signs of damage is limited to a small hole in his skull - the possible reason that the robbers did this for evil spirits to be released. (Several of the other mummies also have such holes - Merneptah, Seti II, Ramesses IV and Ramesses VI - mummies which were found in KV35).

The King's age at death is not known for certain.
